Geek-chic: Top Science Fiction Reads
If you haven’t given science fiction a try, you really should. I find that by reading about other worlds, etc., I am able to re-examine my own much, much better. I also get the best editorial ideas from them that would put Vogue’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ to shame.
Here’s a list of some of my top Science Fiction reads:
- Neal Stephenson – The Diamond Age
& Snow Crash
- Samuel R. Delany – Trouble on Triton
& Babel-17
- Orson Scott Card – Ender’s Game
- Olaf Stapledon – Sirius
- Octavia Butler – Dawn
- Ursula le Guin – The Left Hand of Darkness
On a more fashionable note: It’s no big secret that the geek-chic look is extremely sexy – you’ve just got to work it right. For the ultimate geek-chic look you’ll have to go back in time and shop Yigal Azrouel’s Fall ’07 Collection, but since you’ll soon be well read on time travel and the sort, this should should present no problem. Click here for my review on ZOOZOOM of Yigal’s show, open up a new book and prepare for some serious action in the back library stacks.

My favorite science fiction is the Jetsons… where the hell is my bubble house in the sky already?
Oh yeah-are you going to see the XFiles 2?! I totally am.
But seriously, my fave sci-fi writer is definitely Ray Bradbury. I know thats not very original, but his writing was just… unbelievable. Like that story where the kids’ nursery wall comes alive with the savannah lions. Amazing!
Have you seen Trekkies? I had a prof once who gave us extra credit on exams if we could answer Star Trek trivia questions. She even wore the badge every day. She was awesome-and surprisingly-I learned allot about entertainment law… funny…
