Fashion Icon | Lost in Translation
A year or two ago I was asked by a writer for Madame Figaro Japan who I considered to be my ‘fashion icon’. Seems like a fairly straight forward question, but I had a hard time answering. I ended up talking about Carrie Bradshaw, and how her character and the entire Sex and the City series inspired me on many levels to follow my dreams and move to NYC – shocking answer, I know. A few months later I was sent a copy of the magazine, but what was printed was never really translated for me and I’ve always wondered what exactly was written – anyone speak Japanese?? It looks as if Sarah Jessica Parker is my fashion icon, and that is certainly not the case.
Anyway, do you have a fashion icon? Is it Audrey Hepburn? Maybe Bianca Jagger? Do tell…

When you find out what it says you better let us know!
My style icon is definitely Dita Von Teese. I always say that they should have purple rubber bracelets that say “WWDD?” (What would Dita Do?). I also love… and now you’re really going to laugh… Julia Sugarbaker from Designing Women. I know she’s a fictional character-but there is just something about her. Strong, polished, and accomplished. Loves it.
