HK (Hell’s Kitchen) | Midtown Brunch Spot

January 4th, 2009

I’m working on putting together The City Girl’s Guide to Eating and Drinking in High Heels – a series of short reviews on the many restaurants, bars, etc that I’ve been to, which I’m really starting for my own reference (because I never know where the hell to go) and also because I want to share my experiences with you and find out about yours.
See below for a taste of what is to come…

Last weekend, before going to watch The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (which is absolutely beautiful), I had a gorgeous waffle that came overflowing with blueberries, strawberries, and slices of banana at HK. My lovely date Mary had an equally lovely plate of eggs benedict.

Our service was very good, although things seemed a bit rushed at most of the other tables. Some information you can use: the $12 unlimited mimosas, bellinis, bloody marys that you pay for at brunch can be enjoyed until 5pm, so feel free to stay at the bar and continue drinking well after you’ve finished your meal and given up your table to someone else. Not a bad arrangement at all.

Overall: A chic brunch place in sort of a crappy location that serves good food, which is actually a tad expensive for what it is. Definitely worth a go once – especially if you stay and drink until you’re cut off.

I agree that place was yum!

I have a suggestion for you. Do you like ceviche & oysters? The last great restaurant i went to was about a month ago, it’s called Desnuda. nice small wine list, oysters and ceviche to die for. it’s on 122 E. 7th St (between 1st Ave and Ave A). it’s really small though but really good.
