Forget Snow Globes – I Want Floating Diamonds

floating diamond Forget Snow Globes I Want Floating Diamonds

The minute I tried on the extraordinary Stars of Africa rings by Royal Asscher my heart sank. Seriously, watching diamonds dance beautifully in a globe on my finger is the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen – gorgeous!

By the way, my birthday is this month – on the 19th, actually. Also, this ring goes on sale at Neiman Marcus next week. Ok, I’m done. Now go back and look at those diamonds.

Mirror, Mirror underfoot

screenshot 07 Mirror, Mirror underfoot

Yesterday, while on a mad quest for new boots/yet another pair of Uggs for Grace, I saw these beauties in Miu Miu. I don’t know why Miu Miu’s patent leather is so much glossier than everyone else’s, but it is and I absolutely love it.

Even though I already own a gorgeous pair of Valentino pink satin sandals with big bows, Swarovski crystals and feathers, I’m now dying for these!
After all, a girl can never have too many shoes.

New Obsession: Fiona Paxton

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

screenshot 06 95x300 New Obsession: Fiona PaxtonSpeaking of being a shopaholic…I’ve been meaning to share my latest obsession with you: Fiona Paxton

First introduced to Fiona Paxton’s lovely necklaces by Angela Lowe of Funky Lala, I’ve absolutely fallen for all of the London-based designer’s pieces.

After training at the Royal College of Art with a distinction in textiles, Paxton worked on embroideries and prints for Michiko Koshino, Armani, Chloe, and Moschino, before beginning own namesake collection in 2008. Drew Barrymore and Hilary Duff are already fans.

Paxton’s jewelry pieces are all hand embroidered using the ancient techniques of Indian artisans that give them an almost snake-like quality. Each style features a beaded mosaic of glistening strands of silver and gold beads that drape beautifully on the body and work just as well with a tank and jeans as they do with more formal attire.

I am particularly of Fiona Paxton’s Sylie style (pictured to the right), which is currently available for $276 at Funkylala.com

New Obession: Leigh & Luca

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

You may already know this, but I’m obsessed with scarves – I almost never leave home without one. I wear them season after season and have a trunk overflowing with them at home, so my new Leigh & Luca obsession should come as no surprise…

Not only is each piece completely handmade on antique wooden looms in Inner Mongolia, but these babies can be worn in infinite ways (click to see Leigh & Luca’s great ‘how to wear’ guide). Often times, I pin my scarves into place with the hat pins and brooches I collect from various flea-markets, tie them into halter-tops during the summer (super chic with high-waited trousers), or place a book in the center of them and tie the opposite corners together to create a stylish little tote. The more you play with them, the more you’ll understand that these are much more than the simple scarves sold on street corners.

Leigh & Luca has been spotted on Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Sarah Larson, Naomi Watts, and more. Treat yourself to one at Barneys, Bergdorf, Curve, Intermix, or Curve.
How will you wear yours?

I Want – No, I Need Timo’s Draped Collar

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

screenshot 042 I Want No, I Need Timos Draped CollarAnyone who knows me, knows that I am a little obsessed with scarves. I’ve been like this for at least 1.7 years now.

In one corner of my bedroom sits a handmade leather trunk that my best bud brought me back from Africa, which I love, but you can barely even see it due to the massive amount of scarves that just seem to boil, spill, and crawl out of it. I’ve actually told my friend that she need to go back to Africa and buy me a bigger trunk.

That being said, it should come as no big surprise that I’m sort of freaking out over Timo Weiland’s Draped Collar – and yes, Santa baby, I’ll definitely take one in the navy blue duchess satin, thank you ever so much. For this I’ll be as nice or as naughty as I need to be…

It also completely reminds me of that fabulous Bottega Veneta ribboned coat I was obsessed with just a while ago. sigh.

See other awesome stuff by Timo Weiland here.

Rock ‘n Roll: Burberry & MTV’s VMA

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Burberry Spike Bracelet Fall 08 CollectionSo my birthday might be over two months away, but I just wanted to point out that I love this amazing spiked bracelet from Burberry.

Its just crazy, sexy, cool and will look unreal when worn over gloves during the colder months. So, why don’t I just buy it for myself? Because I just treated myself to a trio of metallic chain bangles by Philip Crangi, which I’m dying to receive.

Ah…on a sort-of-related side note, did you watch MTV’s Video Music Awards tonight? Does anyone seriously think Britney Spears deserved to win two moon men for her ‘piece of me’ video? Do you love that guy Russell Brand as much as I do?? Anyway, If I had gone to the VMAs tonight, you can bet that this Burberry beauty would have been hanging from my little wrist – what could be more rock ‘n roll than that? I guess having Pamela Anderson dangling from it instead?

p.s. I took the day off from fashion week to do some seriously exhausting shopping, but promise to have posts about the Abaeté and ADAM by Adam Lippes shows up tomorrow.

Little Obsession: Free People Dress

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

14817530 11 b1 Little Obsession: Free People DressI first spotted this lovely little dress last weekend on a cute girl in Starbucks, and then saw the exact same dress on another cute girl Monday morning by Madison Square Park as I waited in line for my coffee.

With a knit navy bodice, gold lamé waistband, and embroidered birds across the skirt, the dress seems very ‘Anthropologie’ to me, although it’s actually available at Urban Outfitters for just $138.

I don’t usually like buying something I’ve already seen out on the streets, but there is something so darling about this little dress… Anyway, I plan on wearing it for the remaining summer days with simple sandals, and then during the fall with navy tights and a big, chunky knit cardigan.

p.s. it looks waaay cuter in person than it does in this image…buy it here

Little Obsession: Frog Prince

frogpurse Little Obsession: Frog Prince

New bag crush: Marc Jacobs Eve Flo Ranna Pouchette
Price: $795 at Barneys

I’m sort of annoyed at myself because I am really not a Marc Jacobs fan, but (for some reason) I keep posting things about/or involving his designs.

Anyway, this bag that really is adorable and after looking at it this weekend at Barneys, I’m now sort of obsessing over it (although the leather really isn’t the best). The thing about Marc Jacobs is that he is over the top and fun and crazy. He isn’t afraid about sending out into the world a little green bag embellished with a big golden frog with glowing emerald eyes, and I truly love that.

Maybe I am - gasp! - a Marc Jacobs fan after all.
