Beat the Sweltering City Heat
This weekend was our first real taste of the summer heat to come and I’ve already soaked up too much sun. I spent most of the day outside, directly in the sun, practically naked, and with absolutely no sunscreen on. Right now, I’m in pain and wondering why I didn’t do anything to prevent my current situation, especially when I knew this would happen.
Well, I might not be able to go back in time, but I can certainly prepare for the future. And what better way to prepare for the future than with a shopping list?
Here are the things I think we all need in order to maintain our cool this summer while still looking effortlessly chic:
- Chanel’s adorable sandal camellia - love love love.
- An amazing pair of sunglasses - Oliver Peoples’ are the best overall.
- A great pedicure - any shade will do as long as you work it - right now I’ve got Essie’s Wicked on.
- A hobo or tote large enough to hold extra moisturizer, a bottle of water, etc.
- Simple dresses, whether mini or maxi, are just essential in the summer. I find that if you buy one terrific cotton dress with a great cut, it’s the only thing you’ll want to wear all summer, so don’t feel guilty about buying several.
- Sunscreen.
- A great piece of jewelry - earrings and rings seem to work best in the sweltering city heat.
- A great wide-brimmed hat - it’ll protect you from the sun and look classically gorgeous
Share your summer style secrets…Let me know of anything else you think I should absolutely get a hold of before this summer becomes just another hazy memory.
