Step inside the world of Chanel…
Monday, October 20th, 2008
The leaves might be falling off the trees, but Chanel’s Mobile Art has just landed in New York’s Central Park.
Housed in a portable futuristic pavilion created by architect Zaha Hadid, Chanel’s Mobile Art exhibit features a Fabrice Bousteau-curated collection of art all inspired by the iconic Chanel 2.55 quilted leather handbag. I’m curious to see how each of the 18 international contemporary artists (including Blue Noses, Daniel Buren, David Levinthal, Fabrice Hyber, Loris Cecchini, Michael Lin, Pierre & Gilles, Subudh Gupta, Slyvie Fleury - and even Yoko Ono) will interpret the elements (the quilted leather, the chain handle, and the double C closure) that all give the bag its unique, undeniable identity.
The exhibit has already passed through Hong Kong and Tokyo, and will now spend a couple of weeks in Manhattan before then heading off to London, Moscow, and finally, Paris.
Although not really a Chanel girl, I’m very excited to visit the mobile art exhibit - you should be too - especially since its completely free! See below for details:

Well, I might not be able to go back in time, but I can certainly prepare for the future. And what better way to prepare for the future than with a shopping list?
