styling dj mia moretti at jnby

October 27th, 2010

As StyledOn’s Editorial Director, I was asked to take part in JNBY‘s vlogger styling series, (along with Kate and Morgan from Shopbop, Carolina Engman from The Fashion Squad, fashion’s girl about town Carol Han, the fabulous Bryan Boy, and Zandile Blay  from The Blay Report), where I helped DJ Mia Moretti get StyledOn in a few of the stellar pieces from the line’s new fall collection (not that Mia needs any help really, the girl is gorgeous and has great style!).

We played with everything from the totally different, but totally fantastic Model Harem Pants to an adorable little cardigan featuring neon elephants. Since filming the segment, I’ve fallen even harder for the collection, which couldn’t be more prefect for transitional dressing. Honestly, I’ve sort of been living in my super comfy gray asymmetrical jacket, new softy draped sweaters, and can’t wait for the puffy coats to arrive in-store.

I gave you a sneak peek of this project back in September, and now you can watch the styling segment above… Hope you like it! Head over to 75 Greene Street (right below Spring) in SoHo to play today or shop 24/7 at Shopbop (one of my favorite online retailers). And also be sure to visit StyledOn to discover more on JNBY, as well as other great designers for both your body and home.

getting my spook on…

haunted house1 getting my spook on...

Aside from going to a fall harvest festival, watching The Social Network (which was good, but I didn’t see it as “the movie that defines a generation” or “the best movie of the year”), eating terrible ribs at The Wing Bar on Smith Street, and pulling out my winter leggings because yes, I was actually that cold, I began decorating the house for Halloween. Easily one of my favorite holidays, Halloween is one I go all out for. Glittery bones for $30? Gotta have ‘em. Special, extra-stretchy, extra-white spiderwebs that cost $8 more than the other webs available? Must haves. The ability to enter my bathroom? Not if it interferes in my haunted house design.

And speaking of Halloween (which I will be doing a lot, just FYI), why not…

spooky soiree getting my spook on...

Halloween parties can be really fun and aren’t as much work as you probably think. Check out our guide to hosting both haunted cocktail parties and spooky dinner soirees on StyledOn here.

Are you dressing up this year?
I don’t know what I’m going as yet, but I thinking about being a little more scary/yucky than usual…

lust list722 what im lusting for now...

I recently did a post for StyledOn on my lust list for the fall, which included the gorgeous Louis Vuitton tri-color croc bow pumps, Jil Sander‘s beyond chic gray Manga Madame handbag, and Alexander McQueen‘s hand-knotted cashmere and silk hummingbird rug for the Rug Company, which retails for a whopping $18,900. Hey, they don’t call it a lust list for nothin’. See all of my other picks here and remember that my (30th) birthday is coming up this November!

oscar opening in an oscar world

Several weeks ago I styled an Oscar de la Renta exclusive editorial for StyledOn, which I cannot wait to show you (next week Friday). Today, I stopped in to Oscar’s showroom to take a close look at the Spring 2011 collection, which hit the runway just last week. Let me just say this: there are many, many reasons that Oscar de la Renta is Oscar de la Renta.

I went through every amazing dress, jacket, gown, shoe, clutch, jewelry, and also was taken through the entire design atelier, pattern room, etc. Needless to say, I fell in love with absolutely everything. The details, material, construction, silhouettes, colors–all of it. Working on another feature about it all of course, which (again) is coming soon.

P.S. Did you know that Oscar de la Renta’s favorite flower is a red carnation?
